Hello Friends,

For the past six months, I’ve walked neighborhoods in every area of Fresno and sought support for my candidacy to be your next Mayor.  I’ve sent flyers, produced commercials on television and radio, and appeared in countless forums to communicate my leadership vision for this city.  As we approach Election Day, it is important for me to ask one more time for your support.  This is a critical moment in Fresno’s history, and our voters have an important decision about who will lead them through the uncertain times ahead.  We have enjoyed unprecedented growth, pride, and financial stability under the administration of Alan Autry, City Manager Andy Souza, and the people of Team Fresno. Together, we revolutionized the way local government serves its citizens, and I am proudly running to keep our team in place, finish the revitalization of Downtown Fresno, and continue to aggressively protect our people.  By any measure, we are better off than we were eight years ago, and I will promise to “Keep Fresno Rollin’.”

There are many reasons for which I believe I am the best candidate to be your Mayor.  Allow me to list the top five:

1. I am the only candidate with experience as a Chief Executive in a large organization.  I have made difficult decisions, prepared complex budgets, and had to say “No” many times for the good of the greater organization.  You can’t duplicate real leadership experience and I am the only candidate who has served in that capacity.

2. As the current Deputy Mayor, I will hit the ground running and keep our team in place.  In difficult times, we cannot afford a lengthy transition and I will provide the stability necessary to do the work of the people.  I also have the full support of Mayor Autry.

3. I will fight for the safety of your family.  Rather than dismantle programs that have proven themselves  effective, I will continue to support our Mayor’s Gang Initiative, Graffiti and Traffic programs, and increased salaries to retain our current employees.  I will also seek an annual increase in the numbers of our officers in police and fire on our streets.

4. As a nationally renowned author and speaker, I will be the most articulate spokesman for the valley in Sacramento and Washington.  Capitalizing on the unprecedented relationships built by Mayor Autry in our state and nation’s capitol, I will move officials and legislators to support key issues facing the Valley.

5. Finally, every poll around says crime and education are the two biggest issues facing this city.  Clearly, as a long-time educator, no candidate can work to return the culture of our schools to our children better than I.  The city must step up to the plate and hold our schools accountable for serving our children.  I am the obvious choice to lead that charge.

So, I ask for your vote to be the Mayor of Fresno.  Politics as usual is no longer acceptable.  We have candidates backed by unions, big business, the media, and special interests.  The Mayor, however, is the leader of the people who live in our neighborhoods, raise their families, and go about their business of day to day living.  I am your candidate.  Let’s get to the polls and take hold of this city.  Thank you and best wishes to you and yours.
